With strong Northerly winds plaguing us this season – chasing barra on our barra dams is looking like being a great option. Being based in Hervey Bay allows us to make the short hour and half run up to Lake Monduran for quick afternoon seasons. We always grab a pie for lunch on the way through at the Travelers Rest in Gin Gin and get on the water around 2-3pm – which gives us 4 hours fishing up to sunset and we’re back home by around 9pm.

Mate and ex-Darwin barra guide Chris Jones joined me this trip and opened his Mondy account with this lovely 85cm fish 🤓

This fish could be nudging a metre or more this time next year 😉

It was another great session with 4 nice fish to hand for the afternoon. For those interested in what lures we have been running – its mostly been Jackall Squirrels in the “Hank Tune” 79’s and Lucky Craft Pointers. We have also fished completely different areas each trip quite a distance apart – so its great to see there is obviously reasonable numbers of fish spread out across the dam .
I am sure that “Lake Misery” will get us eventually – but we’re loving Mondy so far 😉
