I was fortunate enough to be invited to spend a fantastic weekend with some of our countries leading fly fishing guides and anglers – Organised by renowned local Hinchinbrook guide Dave Bradley.

Not every day you get to hang out with Dean Butler and Alan “fish” Phillsikirk

The rest of the crew included , Bradley, Clint Isaac, Shannon Kitchener, Jon Snell, Andy Thomsen, Dean Butler, Alan Philliskirk, Darren Brack, Geoff Volter, Darren Brack , Andy Vokler, Roly Newton, Ian Kucurs, Mick Winterton, and two others who I need to name ..

Finally got to christen my new Abel Super 11 with Tribal Salmon artwork on a few barra before the season closed

Conditions where not great to enjoy the flats fishing that Hinchinbrook is famous for so we concentrated on the creeks and snags with plenty of barra to keep every one entertained before the season closed.

It was also great to spend a day on the water with local legend and long-time saltwater fly fisher, Roly Newton

The best fish for the weekend went to Alan “Fish” Philliskirk with this lovely barra at 83cm.

It was a fantastic weekend in great company which I am sure will become an annual event – Looking forward to next year already !
