We have our niece Jess and her boy friend Dale up this week with a goal of landing a fish larger than a bream or flathead …
With SE winds between 20-25 knots we started off down the straights looking for a barra or jew – but struggle with the amount of fresh in the system at present. Next plan was to try a few creeks where Jess open our account with a reasonable tailor on a Thready Buster
Jess then followed up with her 1st Grunter
Dale came finally came good with his 1st Diamond trevally which put up quite a show – again nailing a Thready Buster
Beautiful fish Diamonds
Finished the day over at Kingfisher with a couple of beers at the Stubby Hut
The wind is forecast to drop out on Wednesday and our plan will be to head up the island for a look and see if we can get Dale connected to a few tuna – stay tuned ……….
With the wind finally forecast to drop off ….. a bit
we headed up the island yesterday for a look and it didn’t take long for Dale to hook his 1st tuna
After a reasonable inning we finally netted Dales 1st Tuna and largest fish to date
The action came thick and fast at time with a couple of double hook ups
How Good Is Hervey Bay
Can’t beat longtails for keeping you honest and they are pretty tasty as well
There where quite a few macs mixed in as well ….
When they where “tuna’d out ” we went looking for some snapper – where Dale caught another new species with a nice Tea leaf. All in all not a bad day on the water – Next will be a day trip to Fraser on Friday to finish their holiday – How Good Is Hervey Bay
Took our daughter Eleasha & Rhi up the island on Easter Monday as well with a number of nice teal leaf trevally & a few tuna keeping them on their toes for the day
