Celebrating 50 at Cania Gorge

I celebrated by 50th Birthday in March this year and elected to spend it at one of my favourite places – Cania Dam. We always stay at the Big4 Cania Gorge Holiday Park and had a fully self contained cabin opposite the main camp kitchen area.

The facilities at the Big4 Cania Gorge Holiday Park are great  !

And there is always plenty of wild life to keep an eye out for as well 😉

We have fished Cania quite a bit over the last 15 or so years and have seen it at many levels from almost empty at 6% to almost full as it is at present. The cliffs along the cliffs along the gorge always make a lovely back drop when fishing the main basin.

Some of the best Australian bass session we have ever had – have been while fishing Cania and the fish are all in peak condition at present !

Bony bream are the main bait fish at Cania and we have always done well with the TT-Rev heads rigged with Squidgy fish in 70mm Silver Fox 😉

Another great lure for impoundment bass when schooled up or suspended in deeper water is the Halco Twisty with a couple of assist hooks added 😉

There’s no shortage of bird life around the dam as well

I always enjoy working the banks around Cania with Spinnerbaits and Vibes – this is generally how you will come across the better quality fish as well 😉

Cania also holds some beautiful Saratoga which are always a welcome catch and they also love spinnerbaits

I have been very fortunate to have had support from my family , close friends and my amazing wife Katrina who have all allowed me to pursue my passion ( some have said obsession ) with fishing and traveling – I can’t wait to see what the future brings …
